MeasuredCost Editorial Team
Cost guides and calculators on MeasuredCost are written, built and updated by the MeasuredCost Editorial Team. We build software and data tools. We are not contractors and we do not sell or perform home improvement work.
What we do
- Build the cost models. Each guide prices the job line by line: materials and equipment, installer hours at local wages, permits and contractor margins.
- Collect the data. Material prices from manufacturers and national retailers, wages from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and regional price levels from the Bureau of Economic Analysis. See Sources.
- Check against real quotes. We compare every guide with verified quotes and invoices that homeowners shared publicly, and we publish how many of them fell inside our range.
- Keep it current. Each guide shows when its cost data was last updated. We fix errors quickly and log them on our corrections page.
Expert review
When a licensed U.S. professional reviews a guide, we name the reviewer, their trade and their license on that guide.
How we use AI tools
We use software, including AI tools, for research, data processing and code. Every published number is traced to a source, and every page is checked by a person before it goes live. See our editorial policy and how we calculate costs.
