What homeowners actually paid

We checked this calculator against 32 gutter installation quotes and invoices that homeowners shared publicly from 2019 to 2026, in 13 states. Older prices were adjusted to 2026 with official construction cost indexes. Their median was $1,700 for jobs of about 112 ft, and 75% of them fell between our Low and High estimates for the same length, material and state. The sample is small, so treat the range as a guide.

Published cost guides we checked put a similar job at about $2,500 (median of 7 guides from 2026), close to our typical price.

What affects the cost

Common questions

How much does 200 feet of gutter cost?

For 200 ft of 5-inch aluminum gutters on a one-story home, the typical price is $3,070, or $3,630 with 6-inch gutters, including removal of the old gutters and one downspout per 30 ft.

How much are gutters for a small house?

It depends on the length of the roof edges, not the floor area. Half of the jobs in the quotes we collected were between 80 and 198 ft. A 100 ft job with 5-inch aluminum gutters typically costs $1,590.

Can you install gutters yourself?

Sectional vinyl or aluminum gutters can be a do-it-yourself job on a one-story home, and labor is about 29% of a typical price. Seamless gutters are formed on site with a machine, and second-story work means long ladders, so most homeowners hire it out.

Are gutter guards included?

No. Gutter guards are priced separately, so ask for them as a separate line item if you want them.

How we calculated this

Gutter and downspout prices from manufacturers and national retailers (checked October 2026), installation hours from installer sources times local sheet metal worker wages from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (May 2025), contractor margins from industry financial data, and regional price levels from the Bureau of Economic Analysis. We check the result against verified homeowner quotes. Verified quotes ran about 10% above our line-item model, so the estimate includes a +10% market adjustment (why we adjust).
